Bjärehalvön is breathing contrasts, in a surrounding of the ocean and amazing views. Here you find locally produced and ecological commodities just around the corner, and the cozy towns offer proximity and interaction. Bjäre is an old name and surpasses the age of the cities in the country.
Already in the 1400s Båstad served as a market town. The expansion continued during 1500s and in 1664 Båstad became ”city spot”. Then you were allowed to engage in urban occupations as crafts, petty trade, retail and inns. Year 1788, during the battle of Båstad, the city spot was bravely defendedagainst russian warships. At 1858 Båstad became an borough and twelve years later, at 1870, the city was hit by a serious fire that wiped out two thirds of the community.

18 holes. Links.
At the far end of the Bjäre peninsula, golf has been played since the early 1900s when summer visitors hit balls on the area next to the beach. It was no surprise then that Torekovs GK was founded in 1924. In the 1980s the club acquired more land and with the help of Jan Sederholm the course was extended and rebuilt, and during the winter of 2011 it has once again been given an overhaul. Torekovs golf course may not be one of the longer courses in the country, but in the prevailing wind it is a tough test and offers a fantastic experience.
The hazards on the course are not just pretty, they are also strategically located, making the player think carefully about which club to choose. Many players have stepped up on the first tee, thinking they are going to crush the course, but a few hours later it’s often the other way around…
The golf club wants to create a feel of how the land around the course used to look way back when, and they have taken great efforts in making the ‘links feel’ of the course more pronounced. A few years ago the club took stock of the flora, identifying biologically valuable biotopes needing preservation. The environmental aspect of course management is important to the club and the old common is treated with subtle intuition and great care by course manager Mikael Kullenberg and his staff.
Torekovs GK has a purposeful and long-term view of course development, which has resulted, in recent years, in the course being presented in fabulous condition. The unique location also means that it usually can stay open all year round. More info

Welcome to Båstad Golf Club – a real ”waterhole” for lovers of golf and nature. The very high class of the course and its interesting architecture in combination with a charming view over the bay of Laholm makes Båstad Golf Club a favourite among Swedish and foreign golfers.
The Old Course, designed by the architects Hawtree & Taylor, is a classic one among the Swedish park courses. The course was inaugurated in 1930, the very same year Ludvig Nobel founded the club.
The New Course, designed by the architect Tommy Nordström, is more open, but hilly and very demanding. Inaugurated in 1990. More info
