Many smiles could be seen today when competitors met up with old friends from all over Europe at the rigging area beautifully located at the beachside, some hundred meters away from the tennis centercourt in Båstad.
Today’s program was two tune up races before the opening ceremony. For many sailors it was a valuable experience to have a try out the waters before the actual racing starts tomorrow Friday. The conditions proved to be rather demanding with shifty winds and some tricky gusts and irregular waves. Magnus Lindstedt from nearby We Surf proved handle these conditions well with an impressive bullet in the second race.
At the opening ceremony Mrs Maria Modigh from Sailing Båstad together with Mr Thomas Andersson from Båstad city council welcomed all the 80 sailors, wishing all competitors a great stay and championship.
Joachim Larsson, CEO of Kona Windsurfing presented a technical novelty that will be used during the championship. There will be live tracking of every racer which will enable family and friends at home to follow the racing in real time. Read more at www.sailingbastad.se.
